We’ve just sent a batch of letters off to congratulate new cabinet ministers. We’ve asked that renewable and low carbon fuels projects be considered within the remit of the newly-announced National Wealth Fund and Great British Energy – it is, after all, called Great British Energy and not Great British Electricity.
We’ve repeated our asks to get the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Mandate onto the statute book, and for the timetable for revenue certainty mechanism to be accelerated.
An easy win for getting carbon emission down rapidly and cheaply would be an incentive to stimulate the uptake of high blend renewable fuels in fleets of heavy goods vehicles. Whilst the previous administration never got its Low Carbon Fuel Strategy out of the door, a report on high blends was commissioned and we are keen to discuss its findings with HMT and the DfT, as well as to sit down with DfT officials and set out why we think the Renewable Transport Fuel obligation should be made more ambitious.
