In our response to the DfT’s consultation on the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation we are particularly critical of the proposal of such a small target increase from 2023 onwards. We suggest taking the basic obligation to 21% as opposed to DfT’s suggestion of 13.1%, and we justify it on the basis of a report we commissioned. We support the inclusion of Recycled Carbon Fuels, but propose a simpler more effective means of incorporating them. We don’t agree with the proposals regarding the maritime sector – instead recommending it has its own policy measures. We’re supportive of most of the other proposals and improved sustainability criteria.
